The church strives to re-establish the local culture and unique local behavior. The people of Borneo, or the Dayaks, are very family oriented people, where one clan lives in one long house or Rumah Betang. Rumah Betang for the Dayaks is not just a legendary expression of the life of the ancestors, but also a full and concrete statement of the governance of the village, social organization, and social system, Therefore, it inevitably becomes the center of their culture because that is where all activities and life processes run from time to time.
The intention of this church is to create the impression of "the church is our home", so that when the Dayaks go to church, they feel welcomed as if they are coming to their own home. The Dayaks normally build their Rumah Betang or long houses on high posts on high grounds for protection. They also build fencing where necessary to defend against enemy or animal attacks. Cooling air could circulate underneath the raised floor of the dwelling, and the elevated living areas were more likely to catch above-ground breezes. Livestock could shelter underneath the long houses for greater protection from predators.
In this church, the ground floor functions as gallery, office, storage, and multifunction hall for events. Whereas the upper floor functions as the main sanctuary with seating capacity of 300 people. The materials used are local, easy-to-find, and eco-friendly.
